Almada Lisbon Portugal, From The Cristo Rei Statue On The Famous Beaches Of Costa Da Caparica
OR Almada (Almada) is a municipality of of the Lisbon Regional Unit, on its south bank Tejo river (Order).

- statue of Christ the King (Christ the King), height 110 m. Αφιερωμένο στην Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, it faces Lisbon and offers a panoramic view 360the (min visibility 20 Km).
The idea for erecting the statue began in 1934, when the Portuguese Cardinal Manuel Goucalves Carejeira (1888-1977), in flight of over the Rio de Janeiro Brazil and his statue Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer), he envisioned something similar for Portugal.
After the end of the BPP and as the country was not actively involved in the war, it was decided by the Portuguese Bishops to build one Sanctuary Christ the King National (National Shrine of Christ the King), which would be dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The foundation stone was entered at 18-12-49, in completing the 50 years of the Feast of the Sacred Heart and the inauguration took place on 17-5-1959, with Cardinal Carejeira aptly stating "This will always be a sign of National Gratitude for the Gift of Peace".
The statue Christ the King (Χριστός Βασιλιάς), it is placed on a pedestal 82 m (in 4 pillars symbolizing the 4 cardinal points), height 28 m, hand opening 28 m (from finger to finger) and a big heart on the chest, height 1,86 m.
The statue Christ the Redeemer (Christ the Redeemer), it is located on a hill 700 m, it is placed on a pedestal 8 m, height 30 m and open hands 28 m.
At Christ the King, above her main entrance there is the inscription "EU SOU A PORTA" (I am the door) while at the base of the statue, at the feet of Jesus, υπάρχει η επιγραφή “DEUS E AMOR” (God is love), μεταφρασμένο σε 16 languages.
Inside the pillars you will find the Chapel of Our Lady of Peace (2006), with the image of the same name, the Chapel of St. mystery and the Chapel of Trustees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (2008), at the top of the stairs, with the relics of the saints who contributed to the establishment of the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (για τους Καθολικούς).
In the surrounding area, the high Cross and the statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (4 m), facing Jesus, with a large rosary in hand, calls for prayer.

Visitable daily, with ticket, Οκτ.-Μάρτ. : 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Apr.-Sept. : 10 am-7 pm. (last climb 20' before closing), while it has a cafeteria, souvenir shop and parking spaces (information : https://cristorei.pt ).

- Bridge 25her April (Ponte 25 de Abril ή Ponte Vinte e Cinco de Abril) The length suspension bridge 2 km, which connects Lisbon with Almada, it has a panoramic lift on the north bank of the Tajo (to Lisbon) inaugurated in 1966, with the name "Salazar Bridge" and renamed it 1974, after the Carnation Revolution, in "Bridge 25her April". Η παλιά ξύλινη φρεγάτα του Πορτογαλικού Ναυτικού (first voyage in 1845), 50 firearms, from the 1998 it is considered by Decree a Historic Ship of the Navy and now belongs to the Naval Museum.
The Baraccuda submarine, length 54 m, sailed between 1968-2010.

- Almada Forum
It is the largest shopping center on the south bank of Lisbon and has 230 stores, 32 restaurants, 24 movie theaters and free parking spaces (R Street. Sergio Malpique, 10 am-11 pm). The famous coast of Portugal Costa da Caparica, W of Almada and S of Lisbon, in the Atlantic Ocean, has more than 13 km of continuous coastline (from the banks of the Tajo River until the Petrified Rock Protected Landscape).
White sand beaches, sand dunes, cold waters, hot sun, cool breeze, waves for surfing, θέα στο ηλιοβασίλεμα και στο απέραντο γαλάζιο του ωκεανού. If ocean waves do not excite you or you are not a fan of surfing, turn to its tranquil beaches Setubal (also accessible by train from Lisbon).
Southerly, in the Aroeira region, it is located Petrified Rock Protected Landscape (Protected Landscape of the Arriba Fossil da Costa de Caparica), with rock formations of sedimentary rocks, dense pine forest and hiking trails, is officially one of the 30 περιοχές της χώρας υπό προστασία.
