Custom of the Descent of the Virgin Mary Image, (31 July) It is the finest tradition of the island, wherein is the Descent of Image of Assumption, from Monastery to Church of the Transfiguration Savior. It becomes night path starts right in 12 midnight, by Country, towards the Monastery. After 3 hours course, residents arrive at the monastery where wait dawn. Once dawn get the Sacred Image and return back to the Country, in the Church of the Transfiguration. Figure remain in the Temple until 6 August, which is the feast of the Transfiguration and after a tour of the village homes, returns back to the Monastery.
Fisherman's Festival, (July) At Ai island Nikolaki, the feast of the Holy Apostles which is celebrated with ouzo and seafood offer.
Feast Assumption (15 August) & custom Alona (14 August). At 14 August, Eve of Our Lady, the threshing floor outside the monastery, revived "Custom of Alon", by offering free snacks to visitors. The monastery offers pilgrims who fast, chickpeas.

ACCESS

Access to the island is from the port of Piraeus, the vessel Blue Star Ferries (www.hellenicseaweavs.gr). The destruction of psara- HOLOCAUST
