Psathas Beach

OR Mat is built at its foot conditions Father, very close to the beach Alepochori (3,5 km), at Corinthian Gulf. Belongs to Municipality of Mandra - Eidyllia, of D. Attica.

OR Psatha beach is quite large, pebble, organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, provided free of charge by beach bar, and with the possibility for water sports.

In the settlement you will find restaurants and fish taverns, like picturesque harbor formed by Cape Mytikas Psathas.

The beach is so big that even SK, filled with people from the morning, you will find enough free space to spread your towel, mainly at both ends.

OR name Psatha It is believed to come from many mats growing in the area, due to Psatha wetland, that is, of the coastal swamp that existed years ago and today has almost dried up. In antiquity the Mat it was called Panormos, that is, a safe harbor.

Due to the geomorphology of the soil (swamp) and the microclimate of the area, after sunset (and not only), make their appearance and mosquitoes.

If you have your own boat the coastline to the Cape of Mytikas Psathas (to the port) has two beautiful and secluded beaches. The little one, Secret beach, with fine gravel, a few pines and rocks, ideal for snorkeling.

Then there is the beautiful beach, Pebble, inside a creek, just below him settlement of Mytika, on the hill of Mount Pateras. Long beach, with high gravel on the shore, pebble at the bottom, Blue-Green waters, pines that reach the sea and lush vegetation, due to the stream.

PSATHA - ACCESS

From Athena will reach Mat, passing by Megara and Alepochori, through the Eparch. GS. Megaron-Alepochori (is approximately from Athens 66 km).

Then from Alepochori beach (that is, the Kato Alepochori) through the Eparch. GS. Alepochori-Psathas-Vilion, you will arrive very easily, in Psatha beach.

From end of the beach Alepochori and until its beginning Psathas beach, the distance is approx 3,5 km. To reach the other side of the beach, to the port, you will still drive 1,5 km, in the dense vegetation of the wetland, to be on the coastal road of the settlement (circular course as it is one-way, from Vilia to Psatha).

This is the most common and fastest route, as the road passes by the sea (under the imposing rock, height 130 m.)

An alternative route to get to Mat is from Municipality of Mandra - Eidyllia, to which it belongs administratively, through the PEO Athens-Thebes and Villas.

Once you reach Villa, goes on to Porto Germeno until you find the intersection, and turn left, to Mat (is available with a plate).

Beautiful route, in its dense pine forest conditions Father (altitude approx 1.100 m.) where in place Malia Psathas (Arvanite wool = top) and at altitude 560 m., you will have a panoramic view of it Psatha Bay and Corinthian Gulf (there is a small widening where you can park for photos).

The route from Villas to Mat considered more difficult, and is preferred mainly by the locals from the neighboring villages, as the road has several closed turns (hairpins).

ALEPOCHORI COASTAL ROAD – ΨΑΘΑΣ

OR Eparch. GS. Alepochori-Psathas-Vilion, at the Department beach Alepochori-Psatha beach, that is, the 3,5 Km driving under the high limestone rock of 130 m., considered quite dangerous.

The winter, and after heavy rainfall, rock landslides have been observed closing the road, for reasons of danger.

also, during the winter months, when the big waves hit the rocks furiously, carry in addition to water and gravel from the bottom, falling with force on passing cars (in winter traffic on this road is limited).

The opening of the coastal road has helped a lot in the development of the area as well, Oldest, to get someone from Psatha to Alepochori (and vice versa) had to cross the mountain mass.
