The medieval village of Milia, who was abandoned in his midst 20th century, inspired the owners, originally from the area, to create an ecological unit fully harmonized with the architecture of the mountain settlements of Western Crete.

After 12 years of demanding work, the old ruined stone houses of the mountain settlement, were reconstructed and the end result was to create a residential complex that is completely environmentally friendly. It opened in the 90s and includes 14 ecological rooms (12 double and 2 four-bed family rooms), which are decorated with restored furniture and old utilitarian objects.

The rooms have a fireplace or wood stove, hot water from solar panels and internet. They do not have air conditioning (it is not required because in summer the climate here is cool), refrigerator, kitchen and hair dryer as they are not considered ecological appliances (information about the rooms, tel. : 6945 753 743, 28210 46774, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.), https://milia.gr.

The Thousands Mountain Retreat it is surrounded by chestnut trees, olives, oak trees, apple trees and is the right place for relaxation and well-being. It remains open all year round, and Christmas, except for the months of January - February, which closes for maintenance.

They are not suitable for people with mobility difficulties, as there are stone cobblestones in the exterior areas of the complex. In addition to accommodation, you can also come as a guest to enjoy the beauties of Milia. Perfect for breakfast, brown, food (in winter by the fireplace), hiking, walk in the gardens of the complex, observation of nature. Possibility for organized hiking with a guide or for cooking and wine tasting experience classes, with Cretan wines, upon request (min 6 people).

The restaurant's chef creates modern Cretan dishes with fresh products from the settlement's farm and from the farms in the area.

On your way out, don't forget to buy handmade Cretan products such as homemade jams, olives, honey, honeydew, sweets, Cretan wines etc.

Access to the village Apple tree and Thousands Mountain Retreat & Restaurant it is made by the mountain village Vlatos (altitude 432 m.), of Municipality Kissamos Chania Western It is located between and from a passable dirt road approx 2,5 km (you will see the wooden signs to Milia).

ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES AT THE MILIA ECOLOGICAL COMPLEX

Hiking in the area, passing through the chestnut forest of Milias, and on paved paths, individually (maps of the area within the accommodation) or organized with a guide (min 6 people, circular path, 8 km, 4,5 hours, medium difficulty).

The graphic chapel of Agios Georgios Kato Milias, celebrated on 8 May (Ag. John Theologian), included in the attractions of the organized tour. Picnic at Hellepa, at limestone hill which looks at Apple tree, with guided tour and guide (min 6 people). Crossing of Farangiou Topolion, length 1.500 m., with lush vegetation and many caves (only in summer as in winter it has enough water). Climb at Vracho Kastelos.
