Vori Beach, Man's, with impressive shipwrecks on the seabed

The beach is exposed to the north winds, so there are shipwrecks at the bottom. Ships that, after failure, they were swept away by the wind and the sea currents on the shore.

Behind the rocks of the beach you will see what is left of the wreck of the ship "ELINA, former «SEMIRAMIS»Which has given the name to the area.

"SEMIRAMIS" ran aground here 1996 but today as it rusts, it breaks into pieces and slowly sinks. It is now ideal for underwater exploration (with attention, if you have no experience).

At Vori beach, His award-winning film was shot Panteli Bulgarian, Little England (2013), which is based on the novel of the same name by his wife and screenwriter of the film, Ioannas Karystiani. The film is about the lives of two brothers from Andros, of Orsa and Moscow, in his decade 1930, who love the same man Spyros. Spyros, captain and now married to Moscow, he loses his life in a shipwreck, along with other sailors from the island. HYGROTOPOS - ELOS NORTH

The wetland is located within the limits of a Special Preservation Zone (GR4220001), Special Protection Zone (GR4220028), Wildlife Refuge (Government Gazette 936 / Β / 1998) and Significant Area for Birds. The nearby valley of Lefka it also has alder forests, something that is found mainly in Andros.

To go to the beach of Vori it would be good to use a 4x4 car.

AGIOS ISIDOROS ON THE ROAD VOURKOTI-NORTH

Access is by streams and the green mountain village Arni (altitude 500 m.) where the dirt road is relatively good.

Alternatively from the mountain village Vourkoti (620 m.) which is the nearest settlement in Chora, but with a difficult dirt road (this data changes every year as they depend on the weather conditions prevailing during the winter months). You should have enough gasoline as there is no gas station in these nearby villages. The use of a machine is not indicated. On the way you will see the mountainous part of the island, hills with a few scattered houses.

On the way from Vourkoti to the beach North you will find Byzantine-post-Byzantine churches, like Ag. Isidore Vourkotis, with a nice view and a little above the beach, of Ag. Nikolaou Vourkotis, with a few murals (part of the Monastery of Ag. Nicholas).

Access to the North is not easy, but it's worth coming to relax, to explore the seabed with a mask and respirator (snorkeling) and for spearfishing.
