Surfing on the beach Messakti, Ikaria

The beach Messakti, Located in North. side of Ikaria is the most famous beach on the island, because of its impressive waves. When wind blows north, It is a paradise for surfers as the raging waves release doses of adrenaline, for beginners and advanced.

The beach, with golden sand and shallow waters every summer attracts thousands of visitors. it is organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas, lifesaver, showers, beach bar and canteen. Apart from doing windsurfing, on the beach you can play beach volley as a tennis. We advise windy V.. wind and not surf, better to choose another beach on the island for swimming as the fine sand will pester you quite.

The surrounding area is green, full of pine, and cedar trees. At the edge of the small port, Gialiskari, there is the church of the Ascension. From here you can admire the sunset and panoramic views of the Mesakti and to Armenistis Gialiskari and Karavostamo.

ACCESS

The Messakti or Mesachti located in Gialiskari village and is 39 km from the capital Agios Kirikos, about 45 km from the Airport of Ikaria and 10 km from the port of Evdilos. It has easy access from the National Road. Agios Kirykos – Armenistis and you can come either with your own car or by local bus. Gialiskari is a coastal village in North. side, one of the most beautiful locations on the island. It has a café-bar, restaurants, taverns, supermarket, oven, gift shops etc.. Very close there is the equally beautiful Livadi beach, the touristic village Armenistis, the small beach and the village Nas Christos Raches.

Ikaria is connected to the port of Piraeus, daily, post 2 port of Evdilos and Agios Kirikos and the surrounding islands, with local ferries. O arrival time on the island, from the port of Piraeus, it's about 7:30 – 9:00 hours, depending on the ship and the port you choose. For Messakti beach and surrounding area, to book the port of Evdilos, as it is the nearest (about 30 minutes).
