ARKI or ARKIOI, ΠΑΤΜΟΥ

The Arki or Αρκιοί (Ancient : Arcitis) is a complex of small islands, with their largest Αρκούς (Αρκιούς). The other islands of the complex are : Marathi or Fennel, Agreloussa (or Argelousa), Round (or Round), Σπαλάθι (Spolato or Spalathro), Makronisi, Easy going, Ψαθονήσι, Tsouka, Tsoukaki, Σμινερό (or Smironerisi), Comarus (or Koumaros), Unbaptized (opposite Tiganakia beach). They are located in the NE. of Patmos, to which they belong administratively and very close to the NE. side of Missing and Platis beach seashore.

The Arki about 8 nm. from the Staircase, the port of Patmos, where boats leave daily for day trips to the surrounding islands. The island has an area 6,69 km² and 44 residents (2011). Rocky island with minimal vegetation, belonging to the network NATURE 2000, «ΒΔ. GR4210010). The Porto Augusta –Port Augusta, the small ferry located in the W.. Island's, fills early with private boats (whoever catches up as it fits around 10) and with cruise ships performing the cruises.

ARKI - BEACHES

Tiganakia – Tiganakia beach, N.

The famous beach of Arka which is flooded by day ships and all private boats passing through the island.

With sand and pebbles,wonderful turquoise waters, not regulated, and the wind does not catch it as it is between them Αρκιούς and unbaptized islet.

If you do not have your own boat you will arrive on foot, from the tavern «Enjoyment», where after the cement road and the dirt road you will find the path that leads to Tiganakia (walking 50 ' – 1 time).

ARKIOI - FESTIVAL

At 23 August, in the Performance of the Assumption of the Virgin, becomes the big festival of the island. OR church of Panagia Pantanassa celebrated on 15 August, at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary but the festival takes place on the nine days of the Virgin Mary. MARATHI or MARATHOS, ΠΑΤΜΟΥ

The Marathi or Fennel belongs to the archipelago of Αρκών and belongs to Municipality of Patmos. It is about 5 'by boat from the Bears. All day ferries from Patmos, Lipsos and Leros stop in Marathi. ARKI - ACCESS

Except for the boats that perform the day cruises, there is another way to go to the Bears. Some useful information for your trip to the island, ideal for a relaxed and quiet vacation, in the company of the locals.

Arkos does not require a car as there are only concrete roads and the distances are short. The Arki they do not have an airport have only helipad.

OR Patmos does not have an airport. It is served by the neighboring islands with which it is connected by ferry.
